Minimal sequence of action

The sequence here which goes from hard light → hard shadow on scrim/Hitchcock gag → using that scrim to turn the same hard light into a soft source is very nicely thought-out. Sometimes demonstrations are about finding the minimal sequence of operations which makes your point.

    The ideals of ruthless editing and brevity, whether in devising a science demo or writing a stand-up line are very appealing – what doesn’t add, only distracts from your core message.

    Trouble is, I can only develop interactive routines through multiple performances and by then my scripts have grown flabby as I cling protectively onto my accumulated lines and bits of business.

    This is where you need a critical outsider to help “kill your darlings”.
